The Illusion Remains

It is the attack of a thousand angry thespiansActors on Stage
the hurl of vexing video voodoo verbiage
words Shakespeare himself would not
and yet it seems the terms be fair
fair like a maiden’s outcast ego
oh, yes.

the audience and queens
shudder at the violence of breath
quivering with respectful repertoire
those who casually preen understand
those who wile away the vile hours
Are not and to be would not

like asking what and maybe why
while clinches loiter longingly
for they utter more gentle than wise

could this be madness
yes
maybe
but the price has been paid
and in the end
thespians grumble and sigh
the allusion is remains.
